Turned Out Nice Again!

From Griffe Field Primary School, Derby, March 2011:

"Excellent!! A brilliant performance, entertaining, exciting and educational. All the children were engaged and fully enjoyed the show. Thank you"

From audience members at the Buxton Festival Fringe 2010:

"I would like to say how much I enjoyed watching Turned Out Nice Again!

I am a 97 year old pensioner who remembers the 1930s very well. This production took me back to my youth and many a trip to the seaside.

I thought the props and set were very realistic to how I remember them when I was young, especially the thropences.

The 2 young actors were lively and energetic and performed all the characters exceptionally well.

I thought the show was very entertaining for all age groups and hope people take the opportunity to see it."

"Turned Out Nice Again! Was an excellent family show. It was both funny and entertaining. The two actors played 3 characters each, these were performed to an exceptionally high standard.

The set appeared to be very simple but as the show progressed it was transformed from Granny's living room to the seaside. The scene changes were very slick and enhanced by a very clever sound track.

This was a really innovative show with many highlights including funfair rides, donkey rides and deckchair ticket machines and attendants. This took me back to my childhood in the 1950s.

The show is aimed at children, families and adults from 3 - 103.

I throughly enjoyed this performance and would highly recommend it to anyone of any age.

Excellent, well done!"

"Brilliant show - inspirational and uplifting for children young and old (like me!)"

"Fantastic! We brought our daughter to see the show and we all loved it. An ingenious concept and outstanding performance that kept us all enthralled and entertained. Thank you!"

"Hello Derby theatre just wanted let you know that on Saturday together with my family went to see 'What became of the red shoes'? In the studio. My children thoroughly enjoyed the show along with the energy that was put in by the performer. They also liked being able to ask questions and have a closer look at the props. If it wasn't for seeing The Merchant of Venice (which also was fantastic) we would wouldn't have known about it. After seeing the show we used you cafe also booked tickets for Agatha Christie's The Verdict.

Whilst seeing the red shoes production the sequel was mentioned which was being played in Nottingham will you be showing this in the studio also? Well done for a great bit of family ( two girls aged 7&8) entertainment"

"Thanks so much, as you can see from the quotes from children in my Y3/4 class, they all loved the show. I'd also like to thank you very much for saving the day by extending the session on the spur of the moment after we'd been misinformed about finishing times (you saved my sanity!)" (From Markeaton Primary School, Derby)

"I really liked it, especially the feather duster as a parrot when she was a pirate"...."I thought it was great how one person could play all those characters"..."I liked all of it!"..."I thought the scenery was really clever, how it all came out of the box and how she made things like the elephant's trunk ..." (selected quotes from Y3/4 Markeaton Primary School, Derby)
